Antique Coffee Pot
An antique coffe pot, this is an easy gift to give someone who loves coffee and loves the kitchen, like myself. Once received you can be sure you as the giver of the antique coffee pot will be remembered everytime the recipient makes a pot of coffee.
An antique coffee pot can make a wonderful gift for a person who appreciates nostalgic items for the kitchen. Many people overlook this type of gift even when buying for a person who collects vintage items. The nice thing about this vintage gift is that it is relatively easy to find and it is relatively inexpensive. Nevertheless, it will be well-received.
I lust admit I discovered the appeal of such a gift purely by accident. I found an antique coffee pot in the basement of our home. The house is quite old and the previous owner left a lot of miscellaneous items behind when she moved away. Among the items was an antique coffee pot that turned out to be an object of desire for one of my relatives.
One of my aunts collects antiques and while I knew that she loved items like dry sinks, wash basins and coffee grinders, I had no idea that she would like the antique coffee pot so much. In fact, I almost threw the thing away. I didn’t even know what it was, exactly.
Obviously I have seen many carafes for coffee over the years but none looked like this one. The antique coffee pot was not constructed out of glass. I thought that it was made out of stainless steel or some such metal. There was a handle sticking out of the side of the carafe that made the whole thing look a little funny to me.
Therefore instead of tossing the item away, I chose to show it to my aunt. She is well-informed about vintage items and even though I didn’t think that the antique coffee pot was of any real value, I still sought her advice. I am very glad that I did because I could have thrown out a relatively valuable collectable.
| I did not know what was gathering dust in the basement of my home was a silver antique coffee pot designed in Victorian style. My aunt pointed out that the items had London hallmarks dating the object to the year 1899. The antique coffee pot was marketed by the Goldsmiths Company of London. |
Suffice to say I was impressed that my aunt even knew what it was because this antique coffee pot stands a little more than 6” high. The straight handle and silver construction is also a bit confusing. I found that my aunt was so pleased with the find that it made a wonderful gift for her. The antique coffee pot was the perfect way to thank her for helping us sort the junk from the valuables in our home.
So be careful what you throw out when next you do some cleaning of the basement or attic, you never know what treasures or great gifts or antique coffee pot you might find. One persons rubbish is another persons wealth.
